"Reading Vasiliki Katsarou’s poetry is like watching an exquisitely made film: so beautiful are the images moving through time that you want to pause and let your eyes luxuriate over each frame; so beautiful is the music that you don’t want the movement to stop."

That's what poet Aliki Barnstone had to say after reading Memento Tsunami, the new collection of poems by Vasiliki Katsarou. There will be two opportunities to hear Vasiliki read this October, and to purchase the collection. Come hear the music of her words:

New Book by Lorraine Henrie Lins

EHWD poet Lorraine Henrie Lins announces her new chapbook, "I Called It Swimming," published by Finishing Line Press.

A super review: "This amazing book creates a synthesis between land and sea, desire and conformity. It’s like she opens the windows of her life to let you look at her struggles to remain whole, and then closes them gently, so as not to get dust in your eye. It’s a brave, guided tour of her world. Lins is the new docent of poetry – she has the talent to make her experience sound new.”

Here are the opening lines of the review:

"Clothes are the poems that we wear. The billowing skirts, sculpted suits, and scruffy t-shirts in which we parade around tell even the slightly attentive observer about our histories, our hang-ups, and our lies. The subject of costume’s power, universal and unchecked, struck the mother lode with Maxine Kumin, Paul Muldoon, Margaret Atwood, Billy Collins, and nearly one hundred more accomplished poets, who contributed to a new anthology from Raggedy Sky Press called Eating Her Wedding Dress: A Collection of Clothing Poems. In their allotted pages, these writers explore the meaning of dress as symbol, history, and personal fate. They do so with a wit and wisdom that makes usually bitter truth telling palatable."
